Day 1 Arrived in Lisbon Portugal

My plane was a little late and Susan and Jan got stuck in a 3 hour wait at passport  control and  baggage claim so it was a bit scary not being able to communicate with them.  Luckily we found each other and did get a ride to the apartment which is located in a lovely section of town on a pedestrian only street.

We did manage to go  find some fish to eat, hop on a bus tour of the city of Lisbon for a few house- mostly of historic areas .  Although   we all nodded off in the warm afternoon sun and are sleep deprived, we still managed to finish the tour, find a grocery store open on Sunday to get supplies for breakfasts for the next week on our own.  In addition we found our way back to the apartment!

This picture is in the eastern part of Lisbon from atop the open- topped bus. Lisbon is nestled among seven hills in this city.  This  used to be one of the world's richest nations back around 1400-1600.
